Conditions
of Carriage
Normally operating between the Channel Islands and The U.K.
Ship and Fly offer the only fully comprehensive insurance
cover for vehicles in transit. With only a £150 excess
(or 0.75% of car value whichever is higher) clients vehicles
are covered for loss or damage during time in the compounds
/ car parks in both the Islands and the U.K. in addition to
during sea and road transportation. These periods are determined
by key handover to key collection by the client. Insurance
thereafter reverts to the clients policy. Claims must be made
within 24hrs of collection of the vehicle. Claims made after
this deadline will not be considered.
Initial logging of a claim may be made by telephone to Ship
and Fly Ltd.
Ship and Fly Ltd reserve the right to appoint prearranged
contractors to make good clients vehicles in the unlikely
event of damage.
Contents
Contents left in vehicles are done so at the owner's risk.
Changes to bookings
In the event of a client electing to cancel Ship and Fly Ltd
have a policy of crediting a maximum of 70% of the value of
the cancelled booking toward another order. The original client
only may use such a credit. No cash refunds will be made under
any circumstances.
Organisation of logistics is a time consuming and expensive
activity. A minimum charge of £15 will be made should
a client wish to rearrange any booking irrespective of the
cause of the change. Should a client fail to deliver a vehicle
to the docks in good time the staff of Ship and Fly Ltd will
do their best to make alternate arrangements. A £15
charge (minimum) will be made.
Carriage of prohibited or declareable goods
Channel Island and U.K. Customs Authorities may elect to detain
a vehicle in the event that they have cause to believe that
the vehicle may contain goods that contravene security, safety
or are a hazard. Any dutiable goods ie spirits cigarettes
etc must not be carried in the vehicle unless the subject
vehicle is to be collected at the docks by the client where
they will be present to declare and pay any VAT or Duty.
Delays
In the event of delays to flights or shipping Ship and Fly
Ltd as a condition of travel absolve themselves of any responsibility
to provide food or shelter. In the event of delay no substitute
vehicle will be provided unless the cause of the vehicles
delay can be attributed to negligence on behalf of Ship and
Fly Ltd employees. Direct liason between the client and Shipper
or Airline is recommended in the event of weather or technical
delays.
Ship and Fly Ltd are determined to give the highest possible
standard of service and will of course be as flexible as possible
in order to serve our valued clients.
*For the purposes of this declaration “vehicle” is defined as “a car, tractor, van or truck with four or more wheels and specifically excludes motorcycles, bicycles and tricycles with less than four wheels”. Carriages designed to be attached to horses or ponies are also exempt and are not categorized as vehicles. Special arrangements can be made on request to insure “non-vehicles”. Contact our offices for information. Without special insurance Ship and Fly Ltd do not accept responsibility for damage in transit or loss of motorcycles and non-vehicles howsoever caused.
